Initial setup is good. I just bought it today and will take it in for a tune up in a couple months.
Guitar tone.
Although I'm relatively new to electric guitar, this seems to be a pretty decent guitar. Tone is fine but my opinion may change as I progress! I use it with a Marshall MG30FX (opinions vary on this as well!) but I can acheive the sound(s) I need at this point.
Guitar build quality.
Bought a Sunburst design. Very Clean looking and certainly meets any standard in this price range. The paint job is flawless (and I scrutinized this one closely for painting or wood flaws). I'm not overly conversant with the hardware side yet but again, this will come with time.
Advice
- Value is great. Fine looking guitar as everyone knows! My only comment to all would be this: Since Fender commissions other countries to make their guitars, they must meet a specific level of quality assurance. So whether it's made in the U.S., Mexico, Japan or Timbuktu, it's a Strat! I've spoken to many an accomplished guitarists and they have stated generally that the Mexican Strats are worthy of having the Fender name. If was anything less than the quality expected of a Fender, they would not put their stamp on it. Essentially, it's the player not the guitar.
