I was really disappointed when I first unpacked and played this guitar. Here was the legendary Martin D-15 and it sounded like kite string on a matchbox. I remembered that Martin sends all their guitars out with Martin strings. Hope dawned. I grabbed a box of Dean Markley Acoustic Gold Goldphos and changed the strings. The guitar was aliive! My regrets vanished and I am happy to say this is now my favorite guitar among several. The Goldphos brings out everything in the mahogany. I never before had a guitar that actually vibrated against me when I played.C.F. Martin D-15 Quality Rating:

Even used, it was difficult to find the one small and well-repaired crack on the top. It came with its black hardshell case with green plush lining. It had a negligible dent.C.F. Martin D-15 Overall Rating:

This is definitely value for the money. A Martin (I own two) will always come through for depth, sustain, and tonal range. There is absollutely nothing like a Martin. Anyone starting out should take the plunge and get a Martin. You will never regret it and you will save maybe thousands as you slowly work your way up the ladder from a cheap guitar to this. With a Martin you get more than what you paid for with no regrets. Instead of a mediocre sound you are supposed to put up with because you aren't rich and famous, you get a virtual pipe organ of sound you can play any way you choose. Also: the smell of a Martin is real and makes you feel like you're among the pros.C.F. Martin D-15 Cons:
The Martin strings are an absolute failure on this guitar. If I hadn't known about the Goldphos I would have returned the guitar and missed the wonderful Martin experience.Submitted by: Pomfret
