Like others have said, great tone and flexibilty. 5 great strat tones plus a whole range of fuller, meatier humbucker sounds with the S-1 switch down. It is hotter overall than a standard strat, as the 2 single coil pups are would hotter to balance with the humbucker. Plays great straight or through a POD or other effect. I have played over 40 years, have 2 other strats, Les Paul, Am. Deluxe Tele,ES-135, others. This is my favorite.

Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS Pros:

The American Deluxe series is a great value versus a custom shop guitar. I think the fret preparation in particular is well done. It makes yuo want to play more and more just when you pick it up for the first time.

Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS Cons:

I supppose the price is high versus the MIM standard, so you have to be very persuaded that the extra $600 or so is worth the perceived better quality and sound.
