Well, what did you expect? Seeing a "greatest guitarists" list without Jimi Hendrix would be like seeing a "greatest songs" list without "Stairway to Heaven".

All kidding aside, Jimi Hendrix is pretty clearly the most influential rock guitarist ever, and maintains the ability to inspire both new and veteran guitarists, more than 40 years after his death.
