Slide guitar legend Duane Allman earned public acclaim playing alongside brother Gregg in The Allman Brothers, although the guitarist had already earned the respect of other musicians from some high-profile session work. At the height of his popularity, Duane Allman was tragically killed in a 1971 motorcycle accident.
