Guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott, best known for co-founding the heavy metal group Pantera with his brother Vinnie, was shot and killed in Columbus, Ohio, while performing with his band Damageplan on Wednesday night.
Although details are still unclear, reports are shooting erupted from the mosh pit of the Alrosa Villa nightclub soon after Damageplan began performing. The perpetrator was 25 year-old Nathan Gale, who first shot and killed Abbott, then three others. Police responded to reports of the incident, and Mr. Gale was shot and killed by officer James Niggemeyer, during Gale's attempts to take a hostage.
