A Good Beginner's Resource
Instructor Keith Wyatt sits in on this entry in the Getting the Sounds series. In this edition, the focus in on how to play rhythm guitar in the style of Brian Setzer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and others.
A whole lot of experience in playing swing music is not necessary here - Wyatt does a good job of explaining the fundamentals of the music, without resorting to explaining theory. This means that although you might not gain a thorough understanding of *what* you're playing, you'll get started in playing some of the common shapes used in swing music.
Those looking for insight in how to approach soloing in the swing style should look elsewhere. Aside from a couple of simple guitar licks, improvising is not discussed in "Getting the Sounds - Jump, Jive n' Swing".
