Song Xpress Videos

One of the primary goals of almost every guitarist on the planet is to learn and play tunes. Whether it's the novice guitarist wanting to learn to play "Wild Thing", or the professional guitarist trying to learn cover tunes for an upcoming gig, many of us devote a great deal of time to hunting down recordings and transcribing, or finding tab in books or on the net.
Luckily for guitarists everywhere, the folks at Warner Bros. Music recognized the need for a concise, low-cost method of teaching songs to other guitarists, and have introduced the new Song Xpress series of instructional guitar videos.Every Song Xpress video is categorized by a particular style of guitar music, and contains accurate demonstration on how to perform four songs, each of which is explained in great detail by a professional instructor. In addition to their explanations, and a close-up demonstration on the instructor's guitar, much of the guitar part is displayed in tab format onscreen, to make the learning process even easier.
Of the five videos in the SongXpress series I've had a chance to study thoroughly, each have been uniformly excellent. I feel confident in highly reccomending each of these Song Xpress videos, which, at $9.95 per tape, offer a great, and lower cost, alternative to learning songs via a guitar teacher. Each video is informally geared towards a specific playing level; the Heavy Metal Vol.1 video, for example, tends to contain songs much harder to play than the music on Party Tunes Vol.1. For this reason, I have included a completely unnofficial assessment of beginner, intermediate, or advanced for each song on each video reviewed.
