Guitar is a hum/sing/sing configuration strat copy with a rosewood(?) neck.

Comments:
Bright, but thin. There is none of the classic twang in positions 2 and 4. Otherwise, not a bad fat strat copy.

Comments:
Ok, plenty to complain about here. The durability is a joke. THe trem is USELESS. It instantly puts the guitar out of tune. The guitar feels very light. I dislike it's hollow feel.
Overall:
Pros:
Fun little guitar with a good neck for lead. Not a serious instrument.
Cons:
Tone and tune. Lacking both!

Considering the price, I find this guitar to have a very good sound. It is capable of a wide variety of sounds, but alot of that is dependant on the person playing it! Sounds good through a valve amp!

Comments:
It was the only one in the price range to have a solid body, all the others I looked at, being of ply/laminate construction.
It`s got a good neck for playing solos or barre chords. The whole guitar feels generally tough and solid.

Pros:
I`ve had this guitar for 9 years now, and played dozens of gigs with it. It`s covered in scratches and dents now, having ""worked for a living"" I`ve never wanted to buy a more expensive guitar. For £200 I`ve definately got my money`s worth. Besides if it breaks or gets stolen, it`s not as if it`ll cost me a lot to replace.
Cons:
Does have a tendency to ""hum"" on an overdrive setting.
Some crackle off the control pots.

Because of the humbucker option, the guitar can sound quite beefy when it wants. But the single coils work best and it sounds pretty good, not strat standard but not too far off to be honest. I use a Gelf practise amp and it sounds great, sustain isnt brilliant but what do you expect for a beginners guitar? The trem ain't bad either. Great for learning on, but you'll want to update it when you get decent.

The maple neck give it a very fast action. As with all Yamaha instruments it's built to last, feels robust and well made. Allthough a little heavy perhaps, you know its not going to snap on you.

Pros:
On value for money this guitar's great. It's a well built, good sounding instrument that's served me well. It stays in tune pretty well even after yanking the trem around, and the maple neck makes it easy to break from rhythm into lead without much of a problem. The guitar looks good too, it has a lot of colour options which is great, and of course you can't forget the price. Just £125 including VAT. It's for learning on, and I can't think of anything guitar better for that job.
Cons:
It's not a guitar that you won't need to update. You'll find that extra tonal qualities that seperate a good from great guitar lacking in this instrument. The trem is pretty poor too, and I couldn't be arsed with it. I took it out. The connection for the lead is placed round the side of the guitar, so sometimes it can be knocked out. The only other thing I can knock this guitar for is the bottom three strings, they tend to buzz. If you raise the action it becomes too high, if you lower it they buzz more. You can't place anything on the pacifica in particular, and it certainly has little difference to the big sister, the 112. And you'll have to expect to pay a lot more for a guitar you'll notice a major improvement on, my Epiphone Black Beauty Les Paul puts it to shame. But what do you expect from a beginners guitar?
