Description:
Made in USA. 3 pick-ups,2000,maple body,rosewood fingerboard,classic 325 shape,vintage tuners.
Tone:
Comments:
The tone is fat yet jangly,(ironic as that may seem)and full with a bright sound. This puppy has 3 pickups and is best for those head bobbing,beat-driven tunes where you really just need that great strummy tone w/minimal effects.I use a Fender hot rod Deluxe w/an Ibanez delay and the requisite Tube Screamer.Just be really careful when you tweak your treble or distort,or your band mates will forever label you HIGHTONE.She'll work adequately for most styles, but excells as a clean-toned rythm guitar for pop songs.
Quality:
Comments:
The finish will vary from model to model ,some are as slick as glass whereas others can have a light steeple. No complaints about the hardware, the quality is up there and dependable. The big concern I have is that I tested two models and was literally floored by the craftsmanship and care put into the first one, while the second one wouldn't stay in tune and was poorly set-up.Make sure you get the store you purchase it from to set it up good and adjust the neck (that second one I tried out had a bow in it.) This guitar wouldn't last very long on the road and would be better suited for moments where you need a flashy axe to wow the audience.
Overall:
Pros:
The big question is:What's it good for? Well, any fan of a certain mop-topped group would be instantly gratified upon first chunky strummed chord. The action is perfect, the neck is fast yet beefy, and the good vibe is undeniable. Oh, another thing, this guitar ranks top on my list of all- time beautiful models .The jet-glo paint is stunning, and the playability just adds to it's appeal. The regular scale is awesome as opposed to the standard short-scale 325. Also, as most guitarists know,Rick corp.,has great customer service. For any fan of Ricks, the 350 is a must have and will add class to any collection regardless of your playing preferences.
Cons:
Cons, hmm, I have a few.My first contention is the price.$1200 was, believe it or not,a bargain since in this area the prices on these babies just went up.Rick should lower the prices on these when you consider their limited versatility. The tone,as nice as it is,is also in dire need of some range other then the high jangle remniscient of most Ricks.Another complaint is the fact that Ricks are all variable in quality,if you do find a good one, hang on to it.(An added worry,if you want one, test it out heavily,Rick corp does not allow returns!)Lastly, compared to my other guitars ,it holds up okay.
