Price Paid: $1500 USD (w. case)
Description: 1999 model, 2 humbuckers and piezo pickup, Poplar body, Basswood neck, both with carbon fiber/glass reinforcements. Vibrato bridge, Sperzel locking tuners.
Tone:
Comments: Tonewise, this guitar can go from bright to dark, and anything in between. The Dimarzio humbuckers are not quite as hot as I'd like them to be, but when you mix in the piezos just right you can get a killer sound that most guitars are just not capable of. The piezos sound very good by themselves, and the humbuckers give a very warm, full sound.
Quality:
Comments: This guitar neck has the fastest action I've ever experienced, hands down. There were no flaws whatsoever on the guitar, and it is gorgeous (Majik Blue). Intonation was perfect out of the box right up to fret number 24. My only complaint is that when I put the bridge in free-floating mode, it doesn't always return exactly home. I have a feeling that this is my fault and not the guitar's, and when I learn to set the vibrato wheel right then the guitar will respond accordingly. It seems a little fragile when you first pick it up (mostly because of it's light weight), but in the month I've had it I have had no complaints.
Overall:
Pros: Most playable guitar I've ever owned, loaded with features, and very pretty to look at (the headstock is pretty damn cool). It sounds and feels like a dream. I highly recommend anyone slightly interested in it to go check one out. You might just find a way to come up with the cash once you try one out.
Cons: Needs a battery, even for the humbuckers, vibrato bridge could maybe use a little tweaking, and customer support over the internet seems non-existent. Minor gripes, in my opinion.
