Description:
Acoustic. Made in Canada. Dreadnaught built in 1990. Model now re-named the D-09. Larrivee has long been known for exquisite hand inlay work, though I think the guitars should be more respected for their tone because they sound even better than they look. Mine has a mother-of-pearl seahorse on the headstock and a stylized fleur-de-lea fretboard inlay. The woods are gorgeous; rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, ebony fretboard and single piece mahogany neck. Mine has irridescent ""bear claw"" marks on the top as well.
Tone:
Comments:
Exceptionally well balanced sound. Piano-like bass, full, round and clear mids and clean, toneful highs. And it's a very loud guitar.
Quality:
Comments:
Exceptional craftsmanship. Top-notch woods, hardware and everything else.

Pros:
I have a wonderful hand-made, solid wood Larrivee dreadnaught D-19 made in 1990. It's one of the most beautiful sounding guitars I have ever heard. The same guitar manufactured today (with some inlay differences) is called the D-09. This guitar has a strong, very well balanced sound. The bass tones are piano-like. The highs sing out, and the mids project plenty of full, round tone. And the sucker is LOUD. This instrument is also quite easy on the eyes. Larrivee has long been known for exquisite hand inlay work, though I think the guitars should be more respected for their tone because they sound even better than they look. Cons:
Nothing wrong with this axe.
