Lakewood M14
[Submit a Review]

Price Paid: $1200 USD
Description: acoustic. The M14 is a mid sized acoustic, mahogany back and sides , cedar top, with a rosewood bridge and fingerboard. I got the cutaway and the wide(1 7/8"") neck width.
Tone:
Comments: All of the Lakewood guitars that I have played tend to be bright, but smooth in the high end and very articulate in the bass. My M14 is all of that. Guitar tone is a very subjective thing(i love it you yawn) For me this guitar was it.I knew that I was going to buy it within five minutes. It also amplifies beautifully. I installed a Fishman Natural 1 , and a Sunrise, run out in stereo. Works great!
Quality:
Comments: Martin Seeliger and his crew do impeckable work. German craftsmanship at it's best. Incredibly clean and precise inside and out. Lakewood uses real bone for nuts and saddles, not plastic (tusk? please.)like so many other companies. The machines are Shaller. The inital set up was perfect for me (I like my action a touch on the tall side) and I have not had to adjust anything in the year and a half that I have owned the guitar. That is pretty amazing.
Overall:
Pros: I think that this guitar stands up very well against instruments that cost twice or even three times as much. The tone is not as complex as a Collings or a Santa Cruz, but I sort of like that. The bottom line is that this guitar still makes me smile every time I pick it up. The only guitar that I have played reciently that I might like more is the custom 12 fret M32 Lakewood that I recieved last week, but that is another story.
Cons: Your'e kidding, right?
