Ibanez RG-270rxbx
[Submit a Review]

Price Paid: $320 USD (w. gig bag)
Description: Electric. Made in Korea. 2 humbuckers,1 single coil. basswood body(like the entire RG series),rosewood fretboard, maple neck w/a nice inlay. standard RG body shape. licenced floyd rose trem.
Tone:
Comments: A SHREDDER!!! perfect for my kind of music(symphonic metal,neo-classical)It delivers nice throaty growl with a heavy attack and a heavy palm mute, then simply roars with a speedy cross-pick riff down low. on the neck pickup, a smooth sweeping solo sings out perfectly. i don't use the single coil much, it isn't that good, delivers a harsh, rough sound. the notes up high don't have much sustain or voicing due to the cheap pickups. they aren't bad dy any means but to fall short in some places. (setup= fender princeton 65, digitech rp 100, cry baby wah, RG270)
Quality:
Comments: The finish and every thing is perfect. the neck couldn't be better. my only problems will soon be easily fixed. I am replacing the two humbuckers w/ either dimizario evolutions or semore duncan full shreds. next i am thinking about having frets 19-24 scalloped to improve voicing, volume, and accesability. personlly, After these mods., I would take my guitar over the 570 or any other guitar under 1,000. If you want quality, sound, and feel, and don't plan on spending a grand on an axe, any ibanez is the way to go.
Overall:
Pros: best darn guitar for the money, period. neck feels great and solos well. love the floyd rose. I can wail upon the whammy bar any the thing just won't get out of tune! being able to pull notes up is cool too. sinister looks(mine's all black) only RG w/ an inlay.
Cons: pickups are good down low but fall short in some areas.(solos) P.S I read the other reviews and i definatley wouldn't take a danny over an ibanez! in my own opinion, danny's SUCK! i would burn em' all but I don't think sawdust and wood glue(particle board) would burn very well. he he he. also, basswood is cheaper than some others but is in no way crappy. it is lighter, i think it respondes better on the higher notes, and is used on many high end guitars. i.e. many ESPs and all jems.(steve vai rocks) i hope i didn't piss anyone off to bad, peace
