I bought this beauty after my apartment was broken into and my other guitars were stolen (I had a 6 string and a 12 string acoustic). Was a big purchase for me back then! I have found nothing has the 'punch' of a Guild. Full, full tone with high highs and booming lows. Midrange is full. Bright without being tinny. Over the years the guitar has just gotten better. I mostly play 'unplugged', but I use a Dean Markley sound-hole pickup when playing with the band. The combo gives plenty of punch.

Guitar was flawless when bought and has stood the test of time very well. I have been pretty hard on the guitar when is comes to humidity; I lived on a sailboat for seven years, and as a consequence, the pick guard began to curl up. I took it into the shop and they glued it back down, no problems. The Grover tuners are rock-solid; the guiltar holds its tune a long time. The action was a bit high, so I sanded down the bridge slightly. That has been the only adjustment I have made in the 18 years I have played this axe. The satin finish is unique and beautiful. I use 'Fiddle Brite' (normally for violins and such) to keep it glowing!

Pros:
I'll pick the sound of my Guild over any Martin, Taylor, Ovation, etc. any day! I also love the understated, elegant look of my Guild! The satin-finish, all mahogany, simple dot inlays, and chrome machines say 'I am different and I came to play!'
Cons:
It is a real bummer that Guild is not a separate company any more, and that they have abandoned the 'entry level' market with the D4 no longer being made. It also sucks that they don't make the D15 any more, although, at this rate, I won't ever need a new guitar!
