G&L Asat

Price Paid: £600.00
Description: Electric. Made in USA. 1986 Twin pick ups Rosewood neck Patented G+L pick ups Looks like a slightly smaller version of a tele-caster
Tone:
Comments: A real work-horse I bought this new after seeing Carl Perkins use one, I had never heard or seen this make of guitar in the U.K. and was not sure if it was the guitar or the amp he used that created the sound I heard, I found out it was the guitar when my local guitar shop got one in stock. It ranges from a biting telecaster to a smooth les paul jazz sound when the tone control is taken to it's extremes with the pick ups and played through my Music Man HD130 combo.I have played rock, Jazz, folk and country and I still get people commenting on the sweet tone and clarity.
Quality:
Comments: My only concerns are the laquer finish which seems to chip at the slightest knock,Also the chrome work on the bridge which discoloured with perspiration despite my attention after a short while. So I have had to treat it with extreme care since I bought it. I hope G+L have sorted the laquer problem on new models, I don't know because I have never tried another model over a period of time because I am happy with this guitar in all other respects and have no wish to change it
Overall:
Pros: I have previously owned several strats a Les paul and a couple of Teles and when leo made this he was right,It is A Strat And Telecaster ( ASAT ) The best of both guitars mellow but with a bite !
Cons: My only concern is the laquer finish as previously stated. But the overall performance has convinced me that while I may use other guitars occasionally I will never replace it as my main guitar.
