Tone of Fender Texas Special:
Comments about Fender Texas Special: I usually play this thru a Fender Blues Junior . The Texas Special pickups have a wonderful clarity on a clean setting and a nice ""Texas Tone"" when adding some overdrive. The Pearly Gates Humbucker is perfect for more of a rock/blues sound. The pickup configuration of this instrument makes for a very versitile Blues Guitar. You can get nice tremelo without even attaching the Tremelo Arm, just work the bridge with the palm of your hand! This guitar has very nice tone and sustain before you even plug it in!
Quality of Fender Texas Special:
Comments about Fender Texas Special: This guitar feels like quality in your hands. The factory set-up wasn't bad, but could have been better considering the price tag. The Shoreline Gold finish is beautiful.
Overall Opinions of Fender Texas Special:
Pros: I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone interested in playing the blues

Price Paid for : $800 USD
Description of : American Fat Strat Texas Special. built 2001, maple neck
Tone of :
Comments about : very versatile, tone is bright but can be darkened with knobs. I've used a fender deluxe amp and a cheapy peavy amp. This guitar makes my crap amp sound good.
Quality of :
Comments about : Absolutly no flaws, but thats because i thouroughly checked it out before buying in the shop. There were a few on the shelf that were not so perfect.
Overall Opinions of :
Pros: I have been playing for 8 years, I own a stratocaster plus which i love but is stored obroad so i have little access to playing it. After 3 years of buying a replacing guitars i have found this one i can stick with. I'm not sure about how much abuse it can take but it feels solid and sturdy enough to crack through a concrete wall. The seymore duncan pickup has awesome distortion while the two single coils keep it sounding like a fender. It's more versatile than my strat plus and the neck is the best i have ever touched on any guitar of any brand.
Cons: The stock setup was not as good as it could have been, but these are minor adjustments i did myself that took a few hours. The action was a little high. If you buy one of these (and I recommend you do) , get it setup properly so you can truly appreciate the thing.
