Price Paid for Fender American Deluxe Strat : $1150 USD
Description of Fender American Deluxe Strat : made in USA. 3 single coil pickups, built in 1998, alder body and maple neck, locking Fender tuners.
Tone of Fender American Deluxe Strat :
Comments: It is nearly impossible to find a guitar that sounds great for every style, but this guitar is pretty close. It was obviously made for blues, but the Vintage Noiseless pickups produce very good metal and hard rock sounds. The neck pickup is very thick and balsy (think Stevie Ray). When you crank the distortion you can get some very good Satriani sounds. The bridge pickup is a little bright, but the tone controls on the guitar can fix that right up. I use this guitar with a Fender Cyber Deluxe and the combination is very versatile. However if your not into blues there are probably better guitar choices out there but you can't go wrong with this guitar.
Quality of Fender American Deluxe Strat :
Comments about Fender American Deluxe Strat : The finish and wood on this guitar are amazing. The beautiful trasparent finish, abalone inlays, smooth and fast playing neck, and fretwork all make it look like a custom shop instrument. My version of the guitar has a tremolo bridge which can make tuning a bit difficult. So if you wouldn't use a tremolo, get the model with the fixed bridge. This would improve tuning and sustain. This guitar is very solid and durable, but I would feel better if it had a set neck. Unfortunatly Fender does not manufacture set neck Strats. The factory set up was fantastic on mine, but that can vary from guitar to guitar.
Overall Opinions of Fender American Deluxe Strat :
Pros: This is a very good guitar that any guitarist would be happy with. It sounds exelent, it plays extremely well, and it is one of the best looking guitars I have ever seen.
Cons: The down side of this guitar is that it costs over $1100 dollars. When your thinking about spending that much money on a guitar you should always go to a dealer, pick up and play the very instrument that you might buy. Before I bought this guitar I went to the local guitar store probably once a week for nearly two months and played many different guitars before I became attached to this one. You should do the same before forking over $1000+ for any guitar.
