Price Paid: $199 pounds
Description: acoustic with pick-up. Internal fixed pickup, bought new in 1987, Rosewood fretboard, thinline tappered body with fibreglass back, 1 tone 1 volume control, wooden bridge with steel adjustable saddle, body colour Metallic Grey
Tone:
Comments: Mellow resonant tone played accoustically, nicely suited to finger picking/playing. Loud and a little thin when amped-up. Bottom E tends to feedback easily care is needed.
Quality:
Comments: Nice solid wood finish. Good smooth and adjustable Machine Heads. Three way action available (although the lowest action settings isn't really playable due to string rattle). Underside jack tends to work loose and the internal pickup is very difficult to get to for any repair work.
Overall:
Pros: I'v had this guitar at least 13 years and play it more than any other at home, i also have a Gibson les Paul flattop, and a Gibson SG. I love the sound, feel and ease of play of this fairly cheap guitar. It has a fast fretboard and good action for a accoustic, with a nice warm unplugged sound. I used to play electric with my band and now almost always play accoustic while at home.
Cons: It does look well 8O's, it's a bit rock-ish looking. It's top heavy in the balance and worn the neck will head toward the floor if you take your hands off it. Due to the bevled fibreglass back it also tends to rock a bit when played hard standing up.
