Price Paid for BC Rich Platinum Series Ironbird: $230 USD
Description of BC Rich Platinum Series Ironbird: Made in Korea. Body style is extremely 'evil' - black and blade-like; neck is very fast and thin w/ 24 frets; pointed headstock (however, I recommend the widow headstocks for extreme beauty); large frets perfect for beginners or shredders; made of chesswood (what is chesswood? I don't know but it's got good tone); 2 BDSM humbuckers (BC Rich standards).
Tone of BC Rich Platinum Series Ironbird:
Comments about BC Rich Platinum Series Ironbird: Very heavy and deep, dark metal music tone. Crate amplification with EFX is an amazing combination. Pickups are pretty good for standard stock.
Quality of BC Rich Platinum Series Ironbird:
Comments about BC Rich Platinum Series Ironbird: The guitar arrived needing few tweaks. (1) complete tuning, (2) a slight adjustment at the neck - low E would rattle just a bit. Otherwise excellent. The neck quality could be better (dot markings) but what do you expect for $250? Overall this is a great Korean version of a BC Rich.
Overall Opinions of BC Rich Platinum Series Ironbird:
Pros: Attitude and lots of metal punch. Light body weight. Be careful of balance, get a locking guitar strap, and watch your hip theatrics so you don't jab anyone with the pointed end of the body! Easy to play -- it's a MUST-HAVE guitar for beginners who are into metal music.
Cons: Not USA made. I WILL own a USA made, neck-through Bernie Rico signature Mockingbird or Beast one day. SOON.
