Correct!

There is a consensus about how Clapton came to be named "Slowhand". According to (Yardbirds rhythm guitarist) Chris Dreja, whenever Clapton broke a string while on stage, he would replace it right in front of the audience. The crowd would pass the time by starting a "slow hand clap" - a steady, slow rhythmic clap. From this, "Slowhand" was derived.
