Inspired by the recent release of a new CD on, I've created several full-length RealAudio files of the performances on the disc. The group, "The Hamilton All Star Jazz Band", is a 20 piece big band, based out of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. This CD, entitled "Ain't It Wonderful" (after one of the tunes on the album), is the band's fifth CD release.
Future international performances of the band include this summer (July 2000) at the Montreaux Jazz Festival, Juan Les Pins Jazz Festival, and other events throughout Europe.
Embraceable You
The George/Ira Gershwin tune gets a rather different reading here. The feel is bossa nova, and Diana Panton sings the lyrics in french. Saxophonist Chris Gale contributes some nice playing on this one. (small combo track)
Squeeze Me
A great Duke Ellington tune, we recorded Squeeze Me (aka "Just Squeeze Me") in a traditional manner. I wasn't crazy about my guitar sound on this take, and I played a couple of questionable notes, but it was the take the producer decided on, so that's life... (small combo track)
Hermitage
This is a big band arrangement of a Pat Metheny tune that I wrote (took me over 300 hours!) Since the chart is over 9 minutes long, I just picked an exerpt from the middle. WARNING! Weird jazz alert! (big band track)
