Guide Review - Rock Guitar Rhythm Chops DVD

The best guitar instructional materials provide new ideas for musicians struggling for inspiration. This entry in the Beyond Basics DVD series seeks to inspire those with experience in rock guitar playing, by illustrating slightly more advanced techniques associated with rhythm guitar. Instructor Nick Nolan does a commendable job of providing an overview of more advanced chord structures, and giving us a taste of muting technique and sixteenth note strumming. Because of the broad focus of the DVD, and the relatively short running length, this DVD serves mainly to allow the viewer to get ideas about what to work on, at which point they'd need to explore the topic more fully on their own. As a basis for inspiration, this DVD could succeed.
