Practice Tools for the Guitar
Guide picks
From tuners, to transcription tools, to ear training software, there are a ton of great free applications on the web to help a guitarist hone their craft. Here is some of the best software available.

Ear Training - Ear Master
A nice bit of software for Windows that tests users on intervals, chords, scales, rhythmic figures, and more. The trial version is a free download.

Fretboard Memorization - Absolute Fretboard Lite
Demo version of software designed to help guitarists learn notes all over the fretboard. The demo only teaches notes on the first three frets of the neck.

Guitar Tuner - AP Guitar Tuner
A good freeware guitar tuner for Windows that listens to your guitar via a microphone, and shows you if it is sharp or flat. Several presets (open tunings, etc).

Metronome Software - Keeptime
A shareware metronome program for Windows based computers. The software is free to download, and fully functional.

Printable Staff Paper
Buying staff paper is ridiculously expensive. This week's feature will save you money by offering free staff paper, blank tab paper, and empty chord diagrams to print.

Transcription Aids - Amazing Slow Downer
A very cool utility which allows you to slow down the speed of a CD, mp3, or wav file without changing the pitch. The unregistered version only gives you access to first two tracks on a CD, or first quarter of an mp3 or wav file.
